Chico Public Library has New Roof
Six months after replacing an outdated A/C unit, heavy winter snowfalls and subsequent melting causes leaks in roof which are beyond simple repair. Through the generous support of the Chico EDC, Chico Public Library was able to replace its old roof with a new heavy duty metal roof.
Chico Public Library, Inc is proud to announce the replacement of its old roof with a new heavy duty metal roof. While kids were excited by snow and ice storms which brought about the always hoped for "snow days" free of school, the library found that it resulted in leaks in its roof. We were able to perform temporary fixes, but were advised to replace the roof as soon as possible. This was just six short months after our outdated A/C unit gave its last blast of cold air, resulting in the major cost its replacement, and there was concern over how we would fund yet another major repair to our premises.
Fortunately, after approaching the Chico EDC with our needs, funds to replace the roof were provided by the EDC. We set to work and decided if possible we would like to go with a metal roof for its durability and a reduction in insurance rates. So, in July our new roof went up and we are grateful that we are able to continue to provide the services our patrons are accustomed to. Without the generous support of the EDC, our library would have had a difficult time both replacing the roof and maintaining our level of service.
