2011 Summer Reading Program Shaping Up!

Chico Public Library is planning the 2011 Summer Reading Program

It may be November, but the staff at Chico Public Library is already looking forward to the 2011 Summer Reading Program. Library staff, Karen Hornsby and Michelle Slonaker, along with volunteer Holly Brooks, recently attended the North Texas Library Partners 2010 Library Program Planners & Presenters Conference in Ft. Worth. Participants of the event attended a Keynote Address on how to meet the needs of a culturally diverse community, with programs such as ESL & Citizenship classes, community events, and more. Conference attendees also took part in various workshops on topics such as presentation skills, storytime puppetry, and science programs for libraries. Participants also had the opportunity to tour the exhibit hall, where they had an opportunity to view a variety of programs and performances available for area library Summer Reading Programs in 2011.

Chico Public Library holds its Summer Reading Program on Thursdays in June and the first two Thursdays in July. Performers currently scheduled for the 2011 program include the Creature Teacher, Tharpo the Pirate, the Bubble Lady, and Miss Maria. We welcome you to join us for an exciting and fun filled time  this summer as we "Dig Up a Good Book".

Don't forget to come in and get your quilt raffle tickets to help support the 2011 Summer Reading Program. More information will be posted as it becomes available.
