Reena Spann receives Hawkins Scholarship

Reena Spann, a 2019 graduate of Chico ISD has been awarded the Lavonia Hawkins Scholarship for the 2023 Fall semester to support the completion of her degree at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas.

When asked what inspired her to seek a career in education, Reena credited her mother and grandmother for demonstrating the impact educators can have on the lives of the children they teach. 

A prior recipient of the Lavonia Hawkins Scholarships for the 2022 Spring and Fall semesters, Reena has shown her strong commitment to sharing her love of learning with future generations. 

Chico Public Library Board Trustees are proud to support Reena in her work to become a third-generation teacher and wish her the best of luck on her future endeavors.
