Melissa Wilkinson Named Receipient of Lavonia Hawkins Scholarship!

Chico Public Library is proud to announce that Melissa Wilkinson is the recipient  of a $2,500 Lavonia Hawkins college scholarship for the 2013 spring semester at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. The Lavonia Hawkins Scholarship is awarded bi-annually to students who have graduated from Chico High School and have completed at least one semester of study with the intention of earning at least a Bachelor's degree in the field of education.

Melissa attended and graduated from Chico High School and is currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Education. She is a few short months from graduation and is currently completing the internship portion of her degree. This is the second time Melissa has been awarded a Lavonia Hawkins Scholarship. Chico Public Library is proud of Melissa's hard work and dedication to enhance her education and her commitment to serving the community as a teacher.
