Two Chico ISD Graduates Receive Lavonia Hawkins Scholarship Award

Students awarded scholarship for Fall 2014

The Chico Public Library awarded two $1250 Lavonia Hawkins Scholarships for the Fall 2014 semester. Sarah Evans and Bailey Ray Morris are Chico High School graduates and each are currently pursuing careers as educators. 

Sarah has attended Weatherford College since the fall of 2012 and is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society. She volunteers as a Sunday school teacher and participates in community service projects that benefit the Wise Pregnancy Resource Center.

Bailey attended Weatherford College for two semesters and transferred to Teas A&M University at Corpus Christi in the fall of 2013. She is seeking a Major in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus on Special Education and a Minor in Journalism. Bailey is a member of the Omega Phi Alpha sorority and has provided volunteer service to Special Olympics programs, WC special needs baseball, homeless shelters and more.
